Default 1997 HX Problem.

I got a 97 Honda Civic HX (wish i didn't) with 155,000 mls and this car has cost me a lot of money on repairs because its a special model ive had to get a new transmission, clutch, 2 new c.b. joints, and the list goes on....
But anyways my check engine light has come on so i took it into autozone to diagnose the problem and the code was related with the o2 sensor and the guy at autozone looked up a replacement sensor and couldn't believe what he saw and that was the price for my type of model its was like $400 for a new sensor so when i went home i took off the manifold cover and noticed a good sized crack starting pinpoint sized at the o2 sensor threads and then progressing a little bigger towards the back side and stopping so i got thinking that maybe the crack is what is making the o2 sensor set off and not the sensor itself, ive tried silver solder and it cracked and then jb weld just the other day and same thing and i figured its from the high temperature that the manifold creats that made both materials crack so my question is should i get a new manifold and see if that fixes the light or should i get the sensor and see if thats it? Im stuck in a bind between what i should spend money on to try and fix the problem...
