Something under dizzy cap went bad? :O
My car started up normal, idled for 30 seconds, then shut off. No chugging, etc., as if someone has turned it off. Now it won't start.
Does that sound like something that's happened to anyone else here?
Was just hoping someone could point me in the right direction such as rotor, ignition coil, ignitor (I don't think it's the cap 'cause looks fairly good).
This was right after I had cleaned some of the connections under the distributor cap as they were dirty/rusty in the hopes it would fix the occasional tach. problem I had.
Anyway, everything went smoothly, was careful removing the screw on the rotor so not to strip it, cleaned the connections on the ignition coil (w/out removing it) and cleaned up the shaft the rotor goes on.
I'm sure I put everything back as it was, I'm going to try and check for spark tonight with a spare plug and then planning to get a volt meter(orwhatever) and check to see what I get.
Hope it's not the distributor :eek4:
Anyway, any advice or similar experiences you peeps could share (remember it started up great and idled like normal, then just shut off) would be greatly appreciated.
In a bit of a rush, gotta figure out how I'm getting to work.
Be back later tonight hopefully.
