This story was in my local newspaper. The kid killed his first deer when he was 5 years old.

And no he wasn't just out in the woods with a handgun. He was with his father and 1 maybe 2 guides. The guides had rifles aimed at the hogs head and would have killed him in 1 shot had the hog turned and began to charge. IMO it was a completely humane kill. A 1,000lb hog provides nothing beneficial to the environment except being a freak of nature.
