Borrow one from Auto Zone. If you do the work in their lot, all you have to do is hand them a credit/debit card and your ID, and they'll let you use it for free. I did it the other day with an OBDII scanner for my gf's car. Used it in the parking lot, and gave it back. No deposit or anything.
