If you leave the tie tied, you can crease and ruin the tie. That's not something I'd do with anything but a k-mart tie.
Whenever I get a crease in my ties I iron them out as I am ironing my shirts or pants or whatever I need to do.
But then again I dont have $100 ties or anything... so maybe I dont know about ties. I'll leave them to you :P
