Cisco, Oracle, SAP, Peoplesoft...companies like that don't sell jack shit to consumers. They sell shit to other companies that need those products to do business in the most efficient way possible.
Cheaper shit from those sorts of companies means more money in the bank for the companies doing the buying, which means (potentially) larger budgets to pay employees, which somehow magically ends up in joe schmoe on the street's pockets.
Then again maybe not, they tried that whole trickle-down effect stuff in the 80s and we know how well that helped the common man.
