I agree with this. In fact, I don't actually disagree with the article in its greater message, I just kind of got distracted by its the CCW examples it gives, which is where my initial post came from. I feel that being a defender of people doesn't necessarily mean that one has to be willing to be violent or carry a weapon. I would hope people learn to be prepared (and not just for crime and violence, but for disaster, too) and think for themselves.
In a church, if a madman comes in, being unarmed is equal to being unprepared. You're a sheep in that situation.
