Man's body discovered in late-model BMW at LAX
New, 9:10 a.m. Possible homicide victim, believed to be about 60, is found shot to death in Terminal 3 structure.

A man who had been shot was found dead inside a car parked at Los Angeles International Airport early today, authorities said.

An airport custodial employee took a break in his car on the second level of the Terminal 3 structure around 2:45 a.m., when he saw what he believed was someone sleeping in the car in front of his, according to Karen Smith, an officer at the Los Angeles Police Department’s media relations office.

The worker flagged down Airport Police officers, who went to check on the well-being of the person, Smith said.

Inside the late-model BMW they found a dead male, believed to be around 60-years-old, Smith said. He had a gunshot wound to his torso.

Investigators still have not determined if the wound was self-inflicted or if he is a homicide victim, Smith added. No weapon was found in the vehicle, she said.

The man’s identity is being withheld pending notification of family members.
