I started having this problem with my accord a couple of weeks ago. I will start my car, let it idle for about 5 minutes before I start driving to warm up. At this point, the car is fine. I drive out of my neighborhood and I will start to get a popping sound and loss of power.

The popping sound seems like its coming from under the hood from inside the car, but from the outside sounds like its coming from the exhaust. Its not exactly a backfire (shotgun) sound, but more of a muffled popping. Sounds like popcorn in a microwave! It also wont allow the tranny to shift, not to mention it wont allow it to rev much.

It will consistently do this for a while, at this point it will idle bad, and almost want to die. BTW, it does not give me an engine light anytime in the process. When it finally does...the problem is gone!

I have done a tune up (plugs, wires, cap, rotor), timing belt has been changed along with the waterpump of course.

Does anyone have any ideas? I really would like to be able to fix this myself if possible. Any help would be appreciated.
