The compressor uses a clutch to engage. My bet is the clutch is worn and needs replacement. Only the A/C compressor runs off the A/C belt, so it is perfectly safe to cut it to temporarily fix the problem.
I would recommend fixing the compressor clutch before it gets too much warmer.
Yeah I wasn't too sure about this one. I may have been thinking of an American Car when one serpentine belt does it all. I know that is not how Honda's are designed, but I was just thinking what if...
