My a/c compressor is making a nasty grinding noise and is at its end, also it is rubbing something to burning point.. I would like to know, is there a way to make it not run when I start my car ?..

I am planning on gettin it fixed, but I need my car NOW so wondering, with out removing the entire set up, is ther a way that I can disable it temporarily?
