Seems like this has been a problem for many years now. Back in the early 90's I rememeber all of my friends having to replace there antenna's. Right before my mom gave me her accord she replaced it with the same problems you mentioned. A jerking sound right when it hits the top. Apparently the dealer told her these antennas always fail and the only way to solve it is to have a new one put in. Not worth trying to fix it. I'll find out how much the antenna cost.
