Its funny, every time i try to work on my car i find myself scrambling to put the dash back together before i have to go to work or class.
So at this point the sony hu is in the upper slot and the sock hu is sticking out of the spot where the lower din would be, above the cup holders. I have power, acc and ground wired using my modified butt-terminals, so everything that should work does. Now i just have to add the 2 illumination wires and get everything where its supposed to be.

A setup like yours seems to be the best option, I just need to get my hands on a router or a dremel to make the lower din big enough for the sleeve of my stereo. I practically threw my arm out last night trying to do it with sandpaper.

I got the lid off of the cup holder and stored all the parts. Hopefully in the process I didn't damage it so much that i can't put it back together again if i want later.
