That could be just as bad if not worse. They could pile a ton of work on you not knowing that its too much work for just one person.
most companies have more than one IT person. and the person giving you work would be an IT manager, and they normally know how much work something is going to be.
...unless he still wants to be supervisor/manager position. then things come down from above.
