Like what 97teg said...if you wrapped up the basket and magnet, you basically closed up all airspace behind the speaker. I can not see the logic behind that. I just see issues like the speaker sounding crappy or even the thing over heating.

Are you sure this professional shop didnt assume that you meant deadening the panel that will be the back of the speaker, and not the speaker itself?

Deaden panels, not baskets.
