This is amazing.
The members of the Virginia legislature had the common sense to unanimously approve a SYMBOLIC measure to issue an official apology to black people for Virginia's involvement in slavery. Only slavery. Nothing about segregation, Jim Crow laws, poll taxes, or anything else that particular state did to discriminate against black people in the not-too-distant past.
And yet, a bunch of people on here somehow have turned that into screaming about how there's no more discrimination in this world, and minorities and women should just shut up about all the discrimination that supposedly doesn't happen any more, and complaining about it just shows what kind of trash those people really are.
I'm not going to make a value judgment on that argument one way or the other. But if anyone honestly reads that and agrees with it I think they have some learning about the world to do. And if anyone who has so far made that argument in this thread claims they were saying something else, well then they have the same problem.
