Coffee Wars A Brewin'
YONKERS, N.Y. (AP) -- Starbucks is getting a little competition from an unlikely quarter -- the fast-food joints.
McDonald's, Burger King and Dunkin' Donuts all are hoping to lure new coffee customers and Consumer Reports sent out what it calls "trained tasters" to check them out.
According to the magazine, McDonald's was the best of the lot -- offering what was called "decent and moderately strong," coffee,
but lacking the "subtle top notes needed to make it rise and shine." It was followed by -- in no particular order -- Burger King, Dunkin' Donuts and Starbucks.
Starbucks, Consumer Reports says, was "strong, but burnt and bitter enough to make your eyes water instead of open."
