00-01 itr and ctr cams have the exact same specs. previous year itr intake cams had 3 degrees less duration. most people only use the intake cam because you can get some nice gains with that alone and some tuning.

their are two different types of timing. ignition and cam. you adjust ignition timing by adjusting the maps in the ecu. you adjust cam timing with adjustable cam gears. the proper way to adjust ignition timing is with a programmable engine management system like hondata or crome. you need a socketed and chipped obd1 ecu to use one of these systems.

the benefits to adjusting cam timing are you can move the powerband up or down and dial in overlap, when both the intake and exhaust valves are open. this helps in exhaust scavenging and to bring in a fresh intake charge.
