h: Oh where to start... Um, let's do some 3rd grade math first:
HRC Stage I Turbo Kit - $2295
HRC Stage II Turbo Kit - $3049
HRC Stage III or IV or V Turbo Kit - $3500 to 5000+ easy
Stage I gets you barely equal to that of a stock 1995 turbo DSM. Since you'll probably want to be faster than that, you'll want Stage II at the very least. That's $3049 or more, but let's say $3049 which will get you 250 horsepower or so.
I just ran Kelly Blue Book on a 1995 Eclipse GS 5-speed, 100k miles, good condition and a 1995 Eclipse GSX 5-speed with the same options.
1995 GS : $4665
1995 GSX : $7560
So, the GS + a HRC turbo kit is : $4665 + 3049 = $7714
A GSX + manual boost controller + boost gauge = $7560 + $10 + 30 = $7600
The GSX will have MORE RELIABLE POWER, ALL WHEEL DRIVE, SUPERIOR UPGRADIBILITY, and a DECENT RESALE VALUE for
*** LESS *** than modifying your GS.

Quite frankly the 420A motor is crap compared to a 4G63. And there is no damn way you're getting the 3.0L V6 under your hood. People have been modifying 4G63 DSMs for 12+ years now, do you think that if there was a better solution we would have done it already? DSM's don't need a Honda-style motor swap to get anywhere, the 4G63 is just too damn strong to replace.
I have a daily driven, pump-gas, mid-12 second 1997 Talon AWD plus I run a performance shop, take my $.02 as you may.
