So since they both run in GT than that means they are both within the 425-550 output range. The only thing that would make the difference would be handling, gear ratio, and how well the car can manage to keep the power to the ground at crucial moments. Much of this has to do with driver skill and tire selection. In the end the driver has to let the pit know if something isn't working right so it basically boils down to the driver skill being the grand equalizer.
