you can buy a standalone TIVO

i have a directv/tivo combo unit that has dual tuners so i can watch one channel & record another at the same time, or record 2 at the same time & watch a previously recorded show while both are recording. the older standalones didn't have the dual tuners, but i think they might now....

http://www.weaknees.com/ has about the best prices out there & also has "hacked" ones w/ mad extended record times....mine is hacked by me to a record time of ~149hrs, so i can keep lots of pay-per-views & such to watch over again.

you can also hook them up your network & copy the programs to your pc to burn on dvd or they have some units w/ the dvd burner built-in.

tivo is the greatest thing in the world
