Recalls are down for many car makers...

Toyota
2006: 876,948
2005: 2 million

Ford
2006: 2.2 million
2005: 6 million

GM
2006: 1.4 million
2005: 5 million

Honda is more reliable than Toyota, with barely a recall this year. The only recall was because "incorrect telephone number for the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration in nearly all of its 2006 and 2007 model owners' manuals."
2006: 1.2 million
2005: 15,000

*I am no longer angry at Toyota. My 96 Toyota Avalon still has almost everything the original stock so I should be happy with that. Except for the battery, tires, wipers, power steering fluid, oil, washer fluid and recently brake pads (disc are still good) - All had to be replaced, some more than once. Mechanics told me I am pretty lucky despite Toyota's drop in quality. Exhaust System was still in good shape while many other cars last for about 5 years. I think it because of low mileage, only 130K miles.
