The RL is not selling as well for a few reasons like it only comes one way v-6AWD and loaded where most of the competition has engine options as well as drivetrain options like rwd, awd, v-6, or v-8. You could get unoptioned v-6 GS and Ms for a few thousand less then RLs which is a big incentive. Also the TL has most of the RLs features, is similiar in size, is quicker, more fuel efficient, and is over 15K cheaper. Although the RL has the SHAWD and a beautiful interior I think many people may not think it is worth spending that much more over the TL and end up getting the TL instead. One of the most important reasons the RL is not selling is the last RL was pretty lackluster and not many people know what the RL is or that it was the replacement for the Acura Legend which was highly regarded. The previous GS, E class, and 5 series sold much more and were much better received then the last RL. This means that those cars will get alot of repeat buyers as well as people who are not very car savy but recognize the names and that they were nice cars so they will try the new model.

I agree with you that the RL iin my opinion s the better overall package then the GS, E, M, 5 series, and A6. It has a much nicer interior and comes standard with most of the options the others charge thousands for. It drives very well and has a nice elegant aggresive look. I was won over after test driving it. I remember getting in a new 5 series and the BMWs interior was so dull, almost depressing, and had nothing on the RL. Unfortunately many of the buying public just goes by highly recognizeable brands instead of what is the better car. It is no surprise the MDX is selling well because the last one was such a hit and highly regarded and the new one is improved in every way so it will be getting plenty of repeat buyers. The last RL was no where near as successful as the last MDX so that is where that comes to play.
