Ask your mom for things like tires. Tires on the car get your ass to and home from school / work. Your mother wants to give you something that you need, so think of a gift that helps you get things done. When I was 17, I asked my mother for a Chilton book for my 67 Camaro she didn't want me to get :chuckles: The fact that I asked for a book + it's a repair manual, she was happy to get it.
That was '90. I still have the car AND the book.
