i can kinda get around w/ my mandarin but it's definitely gotten very rusty over the years. i lived in beijing for all 4 years of high school and my mandarin improved drastically but through lack of use, it pretty much blows now. and yeah, i can hardly read and write chinese now. if i were to read something, i'd probably be able to get every fifth word or so.

we speak taiwanese at home but since my parents still live out in beijing, it's rare that i even use it. i can def get by on it if needed tho.
