if the 4th gen car is 89 or newer, then yes, you can use the existing transmission. The engien mounts should match right up to the newer sohc engine.
as far as wiring, you'll only need to change things if the car you're buying does NOT have multi-point fuel injection already. Otherwise, all you need is the VTEC wire and appropriate changes to make the VTEC work. You have a few different options for the VTEC.
