I had some money to spend and a car that wasn't going anywhere for a while so i figured why the hell not...I got the $700 ssautochrome kit that they sell on their website so far the Install hasn't been that bad, its deffinentaly not for the novice, and deffinentaly not somehting that You can slap together over a weekend unless you have a shop and a couple of people helping you.
My brother and I complelty built the motor in my del sol, installed it, installed and wired the turbo kit and gauges and did the enitial break in precedures in less then 2 days, so you CAN install it in a weekend.
To the original poster: if you have actually been researching ebay turbos you will have read all of what has been said, there just NOT worth the hassle. If you want to go cheap, you can still get reliable from a junk yard set up. Go to homemadeturbo.com and do some research there and you can learn step for step and even find a shopping list of several different turbo builds.
I will say that some knock off stuff is pretty good on ebay, boost controllers seem to work pretty well regardless, and some (not all) of the cheap knock off blow off valves are just as good as the originals.
