What kind of smoke are we talking?
White, Black, Blue, in the exhaust or on the engine itself?
How long have you run the engine since the overhaul?
Did you get new piston rings in the process?

Are you positive that all vacuum lines are hooked up correctly?
Is the PCV valve hooked up on the IM?
