Linksys routers are NOTORIOUS for dropping off when large amount of data are transferred through them. I have a WRT54G v4 wireless router and I put a lot of traffic through it and it used to reset itself or just freeze and I'd have to reboot it.

But do a google search on non-oem firmwares like DD-WRT, HyperWRT and OpenWRT and see if one of them works with your router, you'll be amazed and how much better it works.
