1995 Del sol Si 5spd w/DOHC VTEC swap
This is a daily driver project car, runs great. I drive it to work every day, I have driven if from Dallas, and have driven it to Houston and back. This is my 3rd del sol, and will not be my last. I wanted to fully restore this vehicle, but I don't have the time or the space. wife made me buy an SUV to help pick up/drop off kids to/from school.
Some facts about the Honda del sol:
made 93-97
the DOHC VTEC was made 94-97, it was origially B16A3 which is 165hp, the B16A2 170hp was only available in Japan until it was used on the US Civic Si's from 99-01.
2 seater convertible targa top.
Si ("S" models dont have these) has 4 wheel discs, cruise control, power mirrors, VTEC
The good:
engine swap, 99 DOHC VTEC B16A2, OBD2 from a civic si, runs great, only used 93 octane gas (approx 50k miles)
P30 ecu
95 best yr Del Sol. earlier yrs dont have: power locks, trunk latch, R134A freon, skinny 5 star rims, better seals
kenwood cd player
Aftermarket exhaust (aggressive sound)
aftermarket air filter
registration good thru 4/7
inspection good thru 4/7
keyless entry alarm (w/remote start, remote start stopped working about a month ago)
The bad (w/explainations):
salvage title: previous owner had front end collision, repaired and swapped engine
needs O2 sensor, when driving at low rpm's engine is "jerky"
needs windsheild, has long cracks
A/C needs compressor/condensor installed (have all parts, except the hose to condensor)
tachometer doesnt work, used to work (maybe just a fuse, no time to troubleshoot)
speedometer/odometer doesnt work, loose connection to VSS, sometimes you see the speedometer jump and twitch.
broken astray lid (common on del sols)
needs new climate control switch (used the one for another del sol) i still have the bad replacement one, ebay $20,
dings and scratches everywhere, but nothing major
What I've spent INCLUDED with the car:
I have planned on re-wiring the car, so i got an engine wiring harness for an OBD1 SOHC VTEC, uninstalled (approx $100 ebay)
I have an uninstalled virgin P28 ecu, most programable honda ecu (approx $100 ebay)
2 uninstalled Del Sol "S" seats, the ones w/the grey stripes (approx $100 each ebay)
rearview mirror
center console, old one has 2 switch holes, still have it
2 A-pillars uninstalled, old one has tweeters drilled into them, still have them,
uninstalled D-series compressor bracket w/pulley, the current engine had the B-Series bracket that holds the wrong compressor
D-Series compressor, uninstalled
Condensor w/fan, uninstalled
extra A/C lines
i have extra aftermarket oem style front bumper
original 95 del sol rims w tires less than 5 months old
Please NO low-ball offers, i know the car is worth more in pieces than whole. the complete B-series engine swap alone is worth $2k that includes the shift linkage and axle. installation is another $1k. basically you're buying the complete engine swap on a rolling chassis. NO checks, NO payment plans. Cash ONLY. If the vehicle does not sell, I will part it out when the registration expires, and you can find the engine and parts on ebay.
Do not ask me questions about the engine swap, or for an education on OBD2 vs OBD1, that's what internet forums are for. if you are not a true honda enthusiast, this is probably not the car for you.
No habla espanol.
no PM's please, respond to
fyslexic_duck@hotmail.com or
diko@comcast.net and leave your number. If you want to test drive the car, you better show me at least $1k, I'm not giving out joy rides. if you don't have the cash when u show up, you can sit in the passenger seat and i'll drive.
