yank them off with pliers. Doesn't matter if you mess up the old ones. Oil up the inside of the new ones. Find a a socket that fits over the inner part of the top but seats nicely over the wider part of the top. Put the socket overtop and lightly hammer them in, taking care not to damage them putting them on.
