Default Fix your alternator for $7.50!

I fixed it for $7.52 at TRUEVALUE HARDWARE!
The brushes were bad!
I did not want to take the frontend apart. I could get the alt. loose and move it around but could not get it out of the car! So I took it apart in the engine cavity! Removed the brush holder behind the protective plate and there was somthing on the stator that wore the outboard brush down. Went to T.V.hardware and found brushes for an appliance of some kind and they fit! Solderd them in and BAM! Works great want to Santa BArbara last night (a 60 mi. round trip) and Bright lights and plenty of power. At first the car seemed a little slow? Now the acceleration is back up. I gess it just needed to charge. It was quite an improvement in power after the battery charged. The moral of the story? Tell those guys behind the counter that you want the parts to fix the parts! And see how they react!
