I tell you what though once you get them down and can nail your target from 50 feet or so it is exhilirating. Also depends on what you use on the darts, there are a lot of options but some are dangerous and absorb into the system poisoning any meat that may be had.
Best bet is to use one that affects the motor response this way the animal is still alive when it drops and you just knife it's neck to finish it off.
I used to try to get squirrels in my backyard with one I got off ebay for $50 but never got good enough at it
