As far as I'm concerned, Lexus has never built superior cars. They've built mediocre cars with a reputation for quality and reliability with strong value. So long as they continue to increase prices and the rest of the world finally catches up to "Lexus quality" (or gets close enough where it's just not a concern anymore), the argument for purchasing a Lexus really becomes one of brand loyalty over the strength of the engineering.
