Rx-7's go for $8,000 and up in good running shape, and if you want the 95's their rotary motors go for close to $2,500, even the 1991 in good shape and running good go for $3,500 and up. Maybe you could search on ebay and find one that need work and go from there. amazing those rotory cars are but as far as endurance well, what can i say.
