As for the issue in the original post, do you own a helm manual? The alarm brain for EX is located behind the glove box. In the LX or DX or SE it was a dealer installed OEM option after the fact item.
I'd bet it's an Audiovox alarm with the shock sensor zip tied to a loom of wire. I've seen an Impala that you could blow on hard and get the alarm to chirp, Audiovox of course.
