That is a fine option. Just make sure you have adequate PCV ventilation and retard the timing safely this time. My car has been 100% street and self tuned and there are no problems.
I setup my PCV system so it's constantly in vacuum so that shouldn't be an issue. I'm pretty sure my ignition timing was alright when I was boosting on 10.5 compression, now it's 9.1:1. Sure that isn't an excuse to be sloppy, but it gives me that little bigger margin for error.
