Well, there definitely is one.... but it's been 22 years since I studied trig in school so gimme a few. In the meantime, here's some interesting reading:

Max piston speed comes in when the piston is nearing TDC ... @ 73 degrees BTDC according to the Engine Tech site listed above (which sounds about right). Since you have the formula for the acceleration curve and know the point on it at which the piston reaches max speed it should be quite easy to calc max piston speed. I'll look at it and see what I can come up with. Maybe one of our Cal Tech or MIT compadres can whip that formula out real quick
