I think you're describing hard shifting ?!?!?
Pull out the trans dipstick and smell the fluid... if it smells burned, your trans is cooked... DON'T DO ANYTHING ELSE TO IT EVER... including changing the fluid.
If the fluid smells like fresh trans fluid it's probably just a worn clutch. Most people just drive it gently and live with it (though yours gets worse driving gently ?!?!?!). Reman trannys run about $2G from Honda.
Use ONLY Honda brand ATF in your trans. Many minor drivability issues clear up with Honda fluid... I think there may even be a TSB for your vintage car on that point.
