I am afraid that if I buy an older model, I may find some problems getting engine mods. I also fear that too many miles on the engine = future engine problems similar to my '84 caprice...
Whats a good odometer figure for used civics?
I also don't know too much about the DX, EX, LX options... does any one dratically matter (except for the higher hp)?
In any civic (unless its a '99-'00 Si), if you want to get it really quick, you're gonna have to swap the engine, so don't worry about putting stress on an older engine since you're gonna ditch it anyway. In terms of looks, I'd suggest going with a '99-'00 Coupe...I think they look the nicest. In terms of whats gonna be quickest with equal mods, go with a '92-'95 Hatch.

About Options: Both the LX and Dx have the same engine...a non-vtec d16y7. The dx has hardly any options standard. The Lx (only available in sedan form in 5th and 6th gen) adds cruise control, power windows, locks, mirrors, A/C. The Ex has a d16y8 SOHC vtec engine, all of the options that an LX has, plus standard sunroof, and painted mirrors and body moulding. If I'm missing anything, someone else can fill you in.
