Yeah, def keep an eye on the color of the fluid and change it out when the color starts getting any darker than new fluid.

I had a buddy with an 83 cougar that would be changing the trans fluid out as early as 7,000 miles of use because it was getting dark. Probably why he got over 200,000 miles out of that tranny when they usually last no longer than 100,000 at best.
