Default Changed Tranmission Fluid Today-6th Gen

Today,

A friend of mine changed the tranny fluid for me on my 6th gen auto(4 cyl). My car only has 42k, and the scheduled change is 60k.

However, I highly recommend going 30k or even sooner. The car shifts so much smoother, it is incredible. The old fluid was a dark brown, but the new fluid is a more of a cranberry

Unfortunately, I don't have pics, but I will tell you what you need to do it.

1) Pair of Jack Stands
2) Jack
3) 3 quarts of Honda ATF-Z1 Automatic Tranmission Fluid ($5.02 a quart)
4) Brand new crush washer ($1.50)
5) Drain Pan
6) PB Blaster spray
7) Sears Craftman 3/8 Breaker Bar ($11.99) but 3.8 ratchet will probably work
8) Rubbers (Gloves)
9) Shop Towels

My friend was trying to find a fill bolt from underneath until I told him for the 4 cylinder you fill it from the top. By the way, the 4 cyl does not take all 3 quarts. I recommend filling 2.5 quarts, then adding as needed after bring the car to operating temp.

Bottom line, it shifts like the day I first bought it.
