Default 2003 Crv Ignition Switch Interlock Failure

I had an accident while on vacation last week when I parked on a friends driveway , turned the car off , and removed the key from my 2003 CRV EX from the ignition ,and got out of the car.
Unfortunately , the car gear shift was still in the Drive position and I did not have the emergency brake on. The car rolled back , the open drivers door struck my friend's fence , crumpled forward , bent the the door column and fender. Total, over $2700 damage to the car plus damage to the fence.

I subsequently have found that there were recalls for the 2002 CRV for this same problem (NHTSA Campaign# 03V422000)-KEY INTERLOCK FAILURE.

Has anyone experienced this problem with the 2003 CRV?

I will file a report with the NHTSA . I have not yet contacted my Honda dealer as I just returned from my trip. I have 48000 miles on the car ,so it will not be covered under the warranty.

Any advice is appreciated.
