I have a noisy question about my 2001 Accord EX 4 cylinder, 4 door, AT, A/C, with 115,000 miles.
Noise that is low frequency “wow, wow,…..” is heard when certain combination. It is noticed with the following combination and all following things have to occur to reproduce it; RPM~2000, speedometer starting ~40 MPH with my foot pushing on the gas pedal.
It is heard only when I push on the gas pedal and the noise is not heard when I remove my foot from the gas pedal.
The frequency of “wow, wow, per/second does not increase with speed, if the RPM stays ~2000. Noise just gets little bit more louder at higher speed.
The noise is not associated with on/off of A/C unit, does not change with rapid steering right / left. It is not “clicking” noise. When I go 40-60 MPH with RPM ~ 1000-2000, the noise is really hard to notice when I don’t push on the gas pedal. However, as soon as I push on the gas pedal to push RPM to 2000 with speed ~40 MPH, the noise returns.
I can not reproduce the noise when I shift the gear to neutral with RPM 2000, going 40 MPH. But when I shift the transmission back to D3 or D4 position going 40 MPH with RPM ~2000, the noise returns. Tires have been balanced, rotated, and replaced.
I post here knowing, it is not an easy solution. Two mechanics thus far can't seem to locate or find the cause of the noise. Both can hear the noise.
