Default canon 350d

I got to play around with this camera in walmart while the woman was checking out some clothes... now I'm really interested.

In the camera. h:

I currently have this one: http://www.dpreview.com/reviews/sonydscs75/
Sony DSC-S75, It's old and for it's time was pretty high tech. By todays standards, you can get it for less than $100 on ebay with no accessories.

The Canon has quite a few advantages over the Sony. I really liked how fast it started up and was ready to take pictures, how fast it could take pictures. Even though it didn't have a CF card in it, it did show a preview of pictures it took. Everyone was clear and sharp, if only on the 1.8" LCD screen. My Sony regularly doesn't get very clear pics on the first or second try and for Point and Shoot, really leaves a lot to be desired.

With the things I have for my sony, I'm looking to put it up on ebay and hope for $200-300 and put that towards the Canon Digital Rebel XT 350D.

I haven't gotten a chance to play around with other dSLRs yet, but I bet they would also be lightyears ahead of my old Sony. Anyone here have this one or something similar and have some comments on it?

I might sell my sony now and wait a few months for the price to come down on the Canon. $700 is a bit more than I was really looking to spend, but this camera seems to really excel where the Sony let me down.
