Yes, that is what you are suppose to use! It may look like a regular screwdriver from the picture but it is not. You make sure the impact screwdriver is set for counter-clockwise rotation and then you use a hammer or similar and hit the end of the screwdriver with it, hence an impact screwdriver. The one shot impact nudges the screw loose.
If you use a regular screwdriver you don't have enough "hand torque" to loosen the screw, so what happens as you try to use your hand, you end up stripping the thread on the screw as it is the weakest point.
