Check out tire prices too, they usually jump up with the wheel size. Larger wheels means less rubber to protect those rims from pothole damage if you have lousy roads in your area.

Personally I think anything over 16" looks silly, but's thats just me. Big, heavy wheels = poor handling, decreased acceleration, increased braking distances, etc...
