Yes, Schmoo you're right, overall it's not free... I was simply stating that the software itself is free, you can download it just like I did...
As for datalogging, you can use ECU control as I have and have seen it done (w/ Uberdata), so I would disagree and say you don't need to pay $175 for crome pro... I've never seen it (crome pro) so it may be good, but I always champion the underdog...
As for the Hondata being had for less than $600, maybe, but I've seen it advertised everywhere for $600... Plus the average person who's new to this isn't gonna find any crazy good deals...
My point was basically, the software is free so why pay $600 for name-brand software (yes it may be better) when you can use the free software that works pretty good, and save the extra money...

I am not disagreeing with you at all...I prefer Crome over Hondata.
Uberdata datalogging is completely and utterly worthless. Crome Pro is nice because it will fill in the cells with information and adjust them as well as it can to acheive target lambda. It also logs knock and it will let you know where you need to retard the timing a bit to avoid pre-ignition/detonation.
Hondata is to Crome as a Mac is to a PC. You are paying for the convenience of an all inclusive hardware with full functionality right out of the box and plenty of R&D behind it to make a very solid product. With the right hardware, Crome is cheaper and just as, if not more, functional than Hondata. The S300 is advertised at $595, but if you PM a sponsor on H-T selling it, they will knock a substantial amount off that price.
