Yes, and worse. I lived with 4 other guys for a couple of years during college, and they'd pick up the recycling every two weeks. We went through a lot of bottles and cans, so we had a 64 gallon recycling trash can.

After having parties on two consecutive weekends, we had so many bottles that they couldn't come close to fitting in there. My roomate decided it would be a good idea to use a cinder block and crush the glass so that we could fit more in there. We ended up with a 64 gallon trash can filled with crushed glass.

When I got home the day they were supposed to pick it up, there was a handwritten note on my front door that read "Please do not crush glass bottles. You can leave extra bottles next to the trash can and we'll pick them up. Thanks. -Trashman"
