I'm not sure what you would have to weld. As long as you got a D series manual tranny everything should BOLT right in. I did my own tranny swap when i blew up my stock tranny for another EX tranny and it took a few days. I didn't have a helms but once you start working on it and have the axles pulled out it's pretty self explanatory. The hardest part is just lining the new tranny up to the motor.
